Harry Buncke, the "father of American Microsurgery" sadly passed away on May 18th 2008. The Council and members of ASRM convey their deepest condolences to his wife Constance and to his family during this difficult time. Doctor Buncke not only pioneered the development of toe-to-hand transfers, but was responsible for training many of the early microsurgeons throughout the world. ASRM members may wish to make a donation in his memory to the Buncke Medical Foundation, 101 N. El Camino Real, San Mateo, CA 94402. A more formal tribute to his enormous legacy to microsurgery is planned for the 2009 ASRM meeting.
